Buffered vitamin C and acerola

It remains a real seasonal favourite when the month starts with an ‘R’: vitamin C. This water-soluble vitamin is a true team player that works alongside other nutrients to support many functions, such as our immune system. We pay particular attention to the combination of vitamin C and acerola, as together they can enhance the benefits of vitamin C. The acerola berry, also known as West Indian cherry, is the richest natural source of vitamin C with high bioavailability. This powerhouse contains up to 40 times more vitamin C than an orange and is rich in flavonoids with antioxidant properties. These help protect the body against oxidative stress, or the breakdown of cells within the body.

And whilst we’re on the subject of vitamin C, we’d like to draw particular attention to buffered vitamin C. Buffered vitamin C is less acidic and therefore gentler on the digestive system, making it a good choice for people who are prone to stomach problems caused by the standard form of vitamin C, ascorbic acid. The synergistic effect of buffered vitamin C and acerola can improve the absorption and effectiveness of vitamin C, whilst the buffered form minimises the risk of gastrointestinal side effects. Buffered vitamin C with acerola is available in tablets and capsules.
