Frequently Asked Questions
Development
Can you develop bespoke formulations?
Yes. We develop formulations from an initial idea, but can also refine an existing formulation. We translate your concept into a complete formulation and work with you to choose the product form that best suits your product.
Do you help to optimise a formula in terms of cost or effectiveness?
Yes. We take a critical look at ingredients, excipients and dosages, and seek the best balance between efficacy, quality, sustainability and cost. Where possible, we replace or reduce excipients, or look for more suitable or sustainable ingredients.
Can I provide my own formula and have you manufacture it?
Yes. We first assess whether your formula can be processed on our production lines from a technical point of view. Sometimes minor adjustments to the excipients or composition are required. If this is the case, we will discuss this with you in advance and work together to find a suitable solution.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for a bespoke product?
The MOQ depends on the batch size of our mixers, the ingredients used and the chosen product form. We assess this on a product-by-product basis and discuss in advance which quantities are technically and financially feasible. In many cases, it is possible to start on a small scale.
Do you offer low minimum order quantities (MOQs) for start-ups?
Yes. We assess each product to determine a feasible initial order. For example, by going through a development phase first, we can launch new products with a relatively low initial investment. This allows us to test the formulation and production process before you commission the manufacture of larger volumes.
How long does product development take?
That depends on the complexity of the product. Development can take a few days, or it can take several months. Particularly for products where flavour is important, several rounds of sampling are often required. We can usually provide a quick initial estimate of the lead time.
Can you produce organic products?
Yes. We are SKAL-certified and can produce organic products in accordance with the European Organic Regulation EU 2018/848. For an organic product, not only must the ingredients but also the entire production process meet the SKAL requirements.
Can you manufacture HALAL and/or kosher products?
Yes. We can manufacture products that comply with HALAL and/or kosher requirements. To this end, we check the ingredients and excipients used and work with suppliers who can provide the necessary certificates. The production process is also tailored to meet these requirements.
Manufacturing
Can you produce liquid products or tinctures?
Yes. Liquid formulations are a key area of expertise within our production. We manufacture various types of liquids, including clear liquids, emulsions, suspensions and tinctures. We determine the most suitable production method based on the composition and intended use.
Can you manufacture and fill powders?
Yes. Many products start with the creation of a homogeneous powder mixture. We have experience with various raw materials and combinations, including natural ingredients. In addition, we have a drying process to make plant-based ingredients suitable for further processing. The end product can be filled into jars, pouches and stick packs, amongst other formats.
Can you produce effervescent tablets?
We do not manufacture effervescent tablets in-house, as this requires specific production facilities. However, we do work with specialist manufacturers. We can oversee the process and ensure coordination between development, production and delivery.
Can you produce gummies?
We do not manufacture gummies in-house. Instead, we work with specialist manufacturers. However, we can oversee the entire process from development to the finished product and ensure that the various stages are properly coordinated.
Can you produce softgels?
We do not manufacture softgels in-house, as this requires specialised production facilities. We work with experienced partners for this and can guide you through the entire process.
Can I test different flavours of lozenges?
Yes. For melt-in-the-mouth, suckable and chewable tablets, flavour is a key component of the product. That is why we can develop several flavour samples within the desired flavour profile. You can test these and ultimately choose the variant that best suits your product.
Packaging
What packaging options do you offer?
We offer various options for filling and packaging products. The most suitable packaging depends on the product, the desired appearance and how it is used. During a meeting, we can show you and discuss the various options.
To what extent can you assist with the packaging design?
If you have already designed a packaging solution, we can assess whether it is suitable for processing on our machinery. We can also review your label and advise you on the information that, according to regulations, must appear on a food supplement or health product.
Can I supply my own packaging materials?
Yes. We can work with your own packaging materials, provided they are suitable for our machines. That is why we test the materials in advance to check that they can be processed correctly.
Quality
How is the quality of my product guaranteed?
We operate in accordance with established procedures for food safety, production and quality control. These requirements form part of our quality system and are applied at every stage of production. In addition, we are FSSC 22000-certified. Our quality system is audited annually by an independent body.
What quality controls do you carry out to ensure product safety?
We check raw materials on arrival for compliance with specifications and quality, amongst other things. We carry out the necessary checks during and after production. Each production run is assigned a unique batch number, making the product fully traceable from raw material to finished product. Before dispatch, the product is checked and provided with the necessary quality documentation, such as a CoQ (Certificate of Quantity) or CoA (Certificate of Analysis).
Where do your ingredients come from?
We work primarily with European suppliers and distributors. However, not all raw materials are available in Europe. Some ingredients are produced globally, mainly in countries such as China or India. We also select suppliers for these raw materials with great care and check that the ingredients meet our quality and safety requirements.
What does FSSC 22000 entail?
FSSC 22000 is an internationally recognised standard for food safety. This certification demonstrates that our processes, hygiene, food safety risks and quality controls are systematically documented and managed. Staff work in accordance with established procedures and receive training in these. In addition, our quality system is audited annually by an independent body.
What does ‘FDA approved’ mean?
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) does not pre-approve food supplements. If you wish to market a supplement in the United States, the product must comply with US regulations. We can work with you to determine which requirements apply to your product and its manufacture.
Service
What services do you offer?
We guide you through the entire process, from formula development and production to packaging. We actively contribute ideas regarding technical possibilities, costs, planning and regulatory requirements. This means you have a single point of contact and know in advance what to expect.
What are the average lead times, and can we rely on them?
The average lead time is approximately 10 weeks, but the exact lead time varies depending on the product and production requirements. For a first production run, additional steps are often required, such as fine-tuning the formula, testing packaging and setting up the production process. We draw up a realistic schedule in advance and keep you informed of progress.
How flexible is the production planning?
We plan based on your forecast, your desired delivery date and our available production capacity. Where possible, we can schedule repeat production runs more quickly or carry out smaller production runs in between. We assess what is feasible on a case-by-case basis, so that we can combine reliability with the flexibility required by your production needs.
