Manufacturing

From small batches to scalable production

Experience that evolves with you Flexible production, tailored to your product

For us, production is about more than just modern production lines. Our strength lies in the people behind the process: many employees have been with Dusart for years and know the ingredients, processes and applications inside out. We draw on that experience every day to contribute ideas and find practical solutions. With a variety of production lines and kettles, we can respond flexibly to a wide range of product requirements and volumes, from capsules and tablets to liquid preparations.

Beverages

Clear beverages
A clear beverage is a water-based liquid dosage form in which all water-soluble active ingredients are fully dissolved. There are also oil-based clear beverages. In this variant, only oil-soluble ingredients can be used.

emulsions An emulsion is a combination of water and oil. With the aid of an emulsifier, the oil particles remain evenly distributed within the aqueous liquid. This allows oil-soluble and water-soluble ingredients to be consumed together as a single aqueous drink.

suspensions In a suspension, certain ingredients are not dissolved. They remain present in the liquid as solid particles. These drinks are often slightly thicker and need to be shaken to ensure the particles remain evenly distributed.

Syrups
A syrup is a liquid drink containing a significant amount of sugar. This ensures shelf life and enhances the flavour. Syrups are ideal when the taste of active ingredients needs to be masked. The active ingredients are usually highly soluble in the syrup.
Tinctures
Tinctures are the dosage form that has made Dusart a leading name in the industry. A tincture is an alcohol-based liquid preparation that acts as a carrier for the active ingredients and as a preservative. Tinctures are particularly suitable for formulations containing plants and herbs.
Shots
A ‘shot’ is often a semi-liquid gel in single-use packaging, such as a sachet or stick pack. Ideal for when you’re on the go and don’t have water to hand, for example as a sports drink or for a quick energy boost.
Tablets
Tablets are compressed powders. Their colour is determined by the colour of the active ingredients. A coating can mask the colour and make them easier to swallow. Tablets vary in size: from small round tablets measuring 4 mm to larger oval ones measuring 21 mm.
Melt-in-the-mouth tablets and lozenges

  • Orodispersible tablets are small tablets (4–10 mm) that dissolve quickly in the mouth, preferably under the tongue. They are suitable for substances that are readily absorbed through the oral mucosa.
  • Lozenge tablets also dissolve in the mouth, but are designed to be sucked for longer. They remain in tablet form for slightly longer and gradually release their active ingredients.

Both forms are ideal when rapid absorption through the oral mucosa is required.

Chewable tablets
Chewable tablets are slightly larger (10–21 mm) than melt-in-the-mouth and lozenges and can easily be crushed in the mouth. This form is suitable for people who have difficulty swallowing but still wish to take a full dose.
Capsules
Capsules contain loose powder within a shell, which means fewer excipients are required. This dosage form is convenient to take and is appreciated by many users. We use HPMC capsules, a sustainable, gelatine-free alternative.
Powders
Many active ingredients are naturally in powder form. Powders are often used when a large quantity of the active ingredient is required, such as in protein powders. They can be easily mixed with water, milk or yoghurt.
Ointments
An ointment is a water-free, greasy preparation intended for use on the skin. Ointments form a protective layer and remain on the skin for longer.
Creams
A cream is a water-based ointment. The base may be oily or water-based. A cream is often easily absorbed by the skin and is pleasant for everyday use.
Gels
A gel is a water-based ointment that contains no fat. Gels are applied to the skin and feel light and refreshing. A gel can also be taken orally as a shot.
Effervescent tablets
Effervescent tablets dissolve in water to form a drink that you can consume. The active ingredients must be highly water-soluble in order to dissolve completely. An effervescent tablet is ideal if you are looking for an easy and palatable way to take your medication.
Gummies
Gummies are a type of sweet containing a small amount of active ingredient. They are ideal for dietary supplements for children and people who have difficulty swallowing.
Softgels
Softgels are a relatively new type of capsule, specially developed for liquid ingredients. They are widely used for oils, such as fish oil or algae oil, and ensure a pleasant, tasteless intake.
